Smart Lighting OEM Procurement Guide
Use this checklist to turn a product idea into a comparable, auditable factory quotation. It is designed for distributors, lighting brands, smart-home integrators and project buyers.
1. Start with a SKU brief, not a broad category
Provide the product function, destination market, voltage, installation format, protocol, target ecosystem, required certification, quantity and customization scope. A phrase such as “Matter smart switch” is insufficient without defining whether you require native certification or gateway interoperability.
2. Separate MOQ by customization level
3. Validate technology before price comparison
- Protocol is SKU-specific: PLC, Zigbee 3.0 and Bluetooth Mesh should not be treated as interchangeable.
- No-neutral capability needs a wiring and load check.
- Tuya / Smart Life integration and Matter gateway bridging should be documented for the selected system.
- Ask what continues to work locally if internet access is unavailable.
4. Require an evidence pack
- Data sheet and model number
- Applicable test/certification documents for the destination market
- Sample inspection and aging-test scope
- QC checkpoints, AQL or agreed acceptance criteria
- Packaging specification, labeling and carton marks
- Written quotation showing MOQ, lead time, Incoterm and validity
5. Use samples to reduce production risk
Test installation, real load behavior, app pairing, scenes, power recovery and the target ecosystem before approving production. For a project system, test the gateway and end devices together rather than individually.
